Education

Child Find British Columbia is currently establishing community education programs, to be administered through the public and private school systems across the province, to ensure children and parents have the necessary information to minimize the risk of abduction and exploitation. We are also working to establish programs aimed at reducing the number of young teens who run away each year and create a formal network of outreach workers and street workers across the province.

The goal of our education program is to provide information on child youth personal safety to reduce the numbers of children who go missing or are exploited. The presentations include age appropriate information for all ages, from pre-school to parent groups. Education strategies include: handouts (eg. one-page information sheets offering tips on child safety to parents of pre-schoolers, pre-teens and teens); a library of resource material (audio, video and printed); mailouts to assist with school, university and college projects; information booths in malls, schools, community clubs, hospitals, tradeshows, etc.; a speakers bureau with individuals who talk to children's groups, parents, professionals, businesses, clubs, etc.; and online at our internet site.
