Seriousness of the Problem?
In 2009 there were over 50,000 cases of children registered as missing with the R.C.M.P. Missing Childrens Registry in Ottawa.
In 2009 there wereover 10,348 children registered missing from British Columbia.
The greatest number of these children run away from home and most return within 48 hours, over 4,757 children in 2009. There are no words to describe the anguish for the parents of those children who don't.
37 British Columbia children were kidnapped by one of their parents, usually in the heat of a divorce or custody battle.
In 2009 there were 16 British Columbia children who went missing as a result of kidnapping or foul play.*
